Number - number and place value

A numeral is how we write a number using digits. The first digit can show how many tens there are, and the second digit can show how many ones there are.

Read the number name, think about the tens and ones, then write the digits in the correct order.

Worked example

Write seventy-three as a numeral.

Seventy means 7 tens.
Three means 3 ones.
So the numeral is 73.
